School Closure Update Extended to April 7, 2020 (COVID-19)

March 20, 2020

March 20, 2020

Dear Parents:

I just wanted to reach out and thank you again for all your continued support and assistance during this time.  As many of you have already heard, Governor Pritzker announced a “stay at home” order for the entire state beginning Saturday at 5 p.m. through April 7.  With this most recent executive order, the reopening date for schools statewide has been tentatively postponed to at least April 8.  As I have previously stated, continue to plan for childcare beyond the April closure date as information continues to be released daily.

Even during the “stay at home” order, the school district will continue to provide the breakfast and lunch meal program. For the week of March 23, drop off points and times will remain the same.  Please contact the school office if you would like to be added to the program. Currently, the meal program is open to children ages 18 years and under.

Since the original shutdown was for two weeks, students were sent home with learning materials for this time period. Via tele-conference, I met with teachers today and they are working to prepare additional continued learning opportunities beginning the week of March 30. I will update you soon regarding information on how to access the new learning packets and additional meal drop offs that will be added during the extended shutdown period.

As always, if you need any assistance or have questions, do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Dr. Melanie Brink
