Total Eclipse Update - August 21, 2017
August 11, 2017
Last night, the Board of Education held a special board meeting to discuss many topics. One in particular was of the Eclipse Day on Monday, August 21. Two personnel from the Mt. Vernon Emergency Management Agency was on hand to enlighten the Board on the safety concerns surrounding this day. After much discussion, and travel being one of the main concerns, the decision is to have student attendance that day but decline from taking field trips. However, if you as a parent have plans to share this opportunity with your child away from school, please feel free to do so. Our teachers and staff will continue to plan for this day with fun and engaging activities for the students so this is a great educational experience. We will continue to use safety precautions when taking students outside to view the eclipse by instructing and demonstrating proper eyeglass wear and viewing.
